MOCA Toronto Field Trip

Of Wool and Diesel was astonishing to me. I loved the topics covered in the installation and how it related to my own personal experiences with immigration and borders as an immigrant. I feel like it aligns with my art practice as I often try to incorporate my own struggles and history into original characters and narratives.
The feeling of sitting on the wool blankets and watching the sheep being smuggled in the dark room of Mercer Union was a very unique experience, and I loved it. It was atmospheric and made me feel like I was part of the art and story.
Bharti Kher’s work moved me. The composition and form was breathtaking, and the amount of pieces available to see was incredible. I am also of asian descent, so I feel a connection to the asian and feminist artistry she puts into her work. I feel like I learned that there are even more ways that art can be presented and made, more than I ever thought.
