What is a Kilometre?
MY PROCESS
For this project, the first thing I thought of was the kilometre I run each morning. To wake myself up and to complete my first challenge of the day, I run 500 meters away and 500 meters back as soon as I wake up.
As I thought about what that kilometre meant to me, and how I wanted to show it physically in a performance, I decided I wanted to try and show the audience quite literally what I saw in my head.
People think differently; some through images or words appearing in their heads, some only through touching or seeing the idea physically in front of them. For me, I see things in my head, but rather than something recognizable, I have always seen amorphous shapes that, for one reason or another, my subconscious decides represent that thought.
THE BLOB
So, I choose to try and replicate the amorphous shapes I see; I have lovingly nicknamed this creation “the blob”. The blob represents the finished feeling within myself once I have completed my runs. I will admit, it is not entirely accurate. Though it is close enough that I think it conveys the essence of the blob to the audience.

I used basic modelling clay and inorder to completet the next step, wraping it in a kilometere of string, I needed it to be able to spin. So, with the help of a cheap lazy susan, I now have a spinning blob.
If I am going to show what it looks like in my head as a physical 3D object then I want to take the viewer on the kilometere with me in order to get to the final form.
To do this, I decied to measure out a kilometere in string. Then wrap it around my blob
