MOCA and Mercer Union Field Trip

I really did enjoy our trip to Toronto. I had never been to the MOCA and Mercer Union. The type of art that we saw is not really my area of interest or expertise, but that is why I think I enjoyed it.

The first artwork that I have chosen is Of Wool and Diesel by Rouzbeh Akhbari. I found the entire production of the project to be so beautiful. The cinematography and animation style was amazing. Even the sound of the music and singing gave me goosebumps. I think that until this class, I had never really considered media outside of the traditional. This artwork made me want to try and create more videos and even take on more detailed animation. I did not take photos inside of the room because I wasn’t sure if that was rude or not, but I did find pictures from Mercer Union.

The second artwork that I have chosen is from the Museum of Contemporary Arts. Bones by Bharti Kher was another one of my favourite artworks. Although most of the floor is of Bones, this one specifically stood out to me. I love how there is a wide range of materials and colour. I also think that the first thing I noticed is how top heavy it is. I would love to be able to make my own sculptures with a sense of freedom. Sometimes I forget that it doesn’t have to make sense to be considered art.
