Marina Abramovic

Some of my first impressions of Marina Abramovic’s work was that her work is very bold, she as a person is very determined but also that her work is insane and hardcore in the sense that she does what many wouldn’t dare to do. She introduced a whole new world of what performance art looks like in her piece rhythm 0. She dared to do things no one else had challenged. In Rhythm 0 she let the audience become a big part of her work. Becoming artists themselves as the outcome of Marinas work/life was in their hands. they were able to do whatever they wanted. I admire that She Continuously shows that she is willing to sacrifice everything including herself to make her art. I admire that she truly is an inspiration to so many as she speaks about things through art, about trauma, love, even the uncomfortable things that no one wants to talk about. Her work sparks many debates and many do find her problematic, which in some sense I agree. I feel as though her work is very violent which is not nessciarly bad but can lead to a gate way for other artists to take it that much father. She has become a icon in the art world to many so what happens if someone takes it further then her and leads to a place of violence against others. It raises a question of how far can violence in art go before it is no longer art? Where is the line between an ok amount of violence and to much over the line?
