I used a 12 x 36-inch canvas and white acrylic paint. I did the math for how many times I would need to go from left to right on the canvas. I ended up having to do 1094 left-to-right movements. I noticed that within the first 100 layers, my shoulder had started to hurt. As the layers started to thicken, especially on the edges, it made me realize how long a kilometre is. I chose white paint because even with all the layers, it may be hard to actually see if there is anything on the canvas. My reasoning for this was that whenever I make any art, I usually just put it in storage or give it to my mom to deal with and never end up seeing it again after critique. It made me reflect on all the hours I’ve put into my work and how it isn’t seen, so making something that took multiple hours of work but isn’t clearly visible was what felt right to make.
