The Wave

Artist: David Piombini

“The Wave” is a Counter achieve zine that features ruffles a cat dealing with overthinking shown through a approaching tsunami wave as symbolism. This zine amplifies the perspective on mental health awareness in specific overthinking awareness. No text is included other than the title to show how my brain sees these scenarios visually without added context almost like predictions of the future. Overthinking is overshadowed completely by other mental health issues but is common yet not discussed to a point where there are common treatment methods. This is a complete and devastating oversight that has led people to be debilitated. There are months dedicated to mental health yet a common symptom as overthinking is not discussed in length that the regular human has enough coping mechanisms to help themselves. I believe techniques on how to overcome overthinking are needed in school as the developing world needs more coping mechanisms as we are turning to worst solutions like cigarettes or alcohol abuse. Overthinking needs to be address in this society as it is fundamentally debilitating. This piece is a story that shows how my overthinking works and how annoying it can be (shown through the cat ruffles). The cat is happy in the front page then sees the wave coming to the point where it looks massive then after blinking again appears small than a soda pop can. This visual representation is exactly how my overthinking works as the problem appears massive and then once is over and nothing happens it appears small which is frustrating to deal with when you spend most of your night rethinking what you did and if it was the right choice only for it to be consequential . Overall overthinking is a horrible experience that consumes your every thought that is not represented enough that there are treatments. Overthinking is completely controlling and restricts your thinking to only thinking about what you did wrong creating unnecessary stress in a world full of it.

The Friday Party Documentation

The Friday party was cool I loved the vibe in there being very chill. The food and everyone working hard was cool to see as-well. Everyone did a good job on their zines and it was interesting to see all the different interruptions of the assignment. The getting zines at the end was like Halloween for me but in this case it is peoples wonderful art. Also in a weird way it kind of was reminded me of Santa’s workshop in those Christmas movies with everyone working hard with the snow outside blowing like we are in the arctic all that would be needed is Rein deer and we would be set. In all seriousness it was a good time and I enjoyed my time in the class as well as this party as-well.
