Draft Proposal
Artist inspired by: Felix Gonzalez-Torres
This relation to this artist in my purposed work is that he works with the idea of representing someone through objects an example his work “Untitled” (Portrait of Ross in L.A.) representing a human through candy. This work showcased candy being taken by visitors and than replenished as a symbolization for life and death as-well as one could say that the work being taken away is also a symbolization of his partner who he based it off of deteriorating from the disease he had as the weight was 175 by when people take it the number goes down like he is disappearing(The Art Story, n.d). My proposal relates to his life and death theme as my portrait will use memories of the invented human after death to display a persons uniqueness.
My aim with this assignment is to use items to represent connections to memories. Memories are as much a part of a person as there complexion. Without the memories you have of your life and your experience you would just be another person. To clarify I am saying that your memories are a big part of defining you as a individual as much as what you look like.
